National Orphan's Day!

City Centre Maadi and AlexandriaCity Centre Partner with Magic Planet to Support Orphans on National Orphan’s Day

 

Egypt, 5 April 2013 –As part of their ongoing commitment to Egypt's local community and its development, City Centre Maadi and Alexandria City Centre in partnership with Magic Planet hosted750 orphans at their shopping malls to spend the day enjoying Magic Planet games and rides. The event which took place on April 5thin recognition of National Orphan’s Daysaw both City Centre Maadi and Alexandria City Centre open their doors to these children from the 9:00am to midday. Focusing on support of the local communities in which they work, City Centre Maadi partnered with local organizations, includingResala, Dar El Orman, TalahomQoa Al Khair and Raghad to host 600 children, whilst Alexandria City Centre partnered with Resala, Sahabet El Kheir, and Abnaa El Horreiya to host 150 children.

During the day, the children at City Centre Maadi were given free access to Magic Planet, where they enjoyed the numerous rides and games, the amusement centre has to offer.Cartoon characters, a face painter and magician were also on hand to provide entertainment for the children, and in partnership with Carrefour, Pizza Hut, KFC, Hardee’s, Cook Door, Manchow Wok, Fattoush, McDonald's, Cinnabon and Bonbon Sima, City Centre Maadi provided the children with lunch, snacks and goody bags.

At Alexandria City Centre, Orphans day, started with a breakfast courtesy from Juice It and Cookieman, before the mall opened the doors of Magic Planet for children to enjoy the amusement centre rides and games. Later in the afternoon, Alexandria City Centre partnered with McDonald's to host music and dance show with the famous McDonald character Hamburglar, before a surprise appearance from the Alexandria Scooter Riders club members who played a beautiful role in interacting and playing with the kids. In the afternoon the children were treated to a children's movie courtesy of Renaissance Cinema.

Pizza Hut, Hardees, Pizza Station and Mo'men also provided lunches for all the children. As a momentum to remind them of the special day, Alexandria City Centre teamed up with the thirteenshops, to provide scarves and accessories for the girls and caps and toys for the boys. Other retailers at Alexandria City Centre also donated generously in support of Orphan's day;  including Chocolate Only, who provided Ice Creams for the kids, Sweet Factory &Macho’s who gave away free candies, Mr.Jeans & Caijo who provided 150 pieces of clothing for the children,  as well as Tip Two who donated 150 pairs of shoes to the orphans.

Talking about their decision to open their doors to these children, on Orphans Day, Mr. Abdalla El Nockrashy, Egypt Country Head for Majid Al Futtaim Properties, said “Being able to give back to the local communities in which we both work and live is such an important part of Majid Al Futtaim's corporate philosophy.
